History
Welcome to the Frickley Colliery Welfare Cricket Club Official Website.
Our cricket club was established in 1903 upon the advent of coal mining in the area. The club is actually located on Westfield Lane, South Elmsall. However, we have retained the name of ''Frickley'' after the old colliery and nearby village.
We are a friendly club that offers enjoyable yet competitive cricket for players of all abilities. Our club motto is 'Lusum Ederus, Lusum Lustus' (Play hard, Play fair) A doctrine we strive to uphold both on and off the field of play.
We have rich history in local cricket having played in a number of leagues within the Yorkshire area. We were admitted to the Pontefract and District Cricket League in 1995 and currently have two senior teams in Division 1 and Division 2.
Our second XI achieved history within our league in 2007 when we gained promotion to Division 2 making it in effect a 1st XI as Division 2 consists exclusively of 1st teams.
We have a senior team in the Midweek Doncaster Infirmary League, which is a mixture of experience and youth. Our junior section currently consists of under 11, 13, 15, 17 sides.
In 2004 we moved to our new clubhouse which incorporates excellent facilities and a warm welcome. The club house is equipped with a licensed bar providing a friendly atmosphere to members and also non-members.
In 2005 we visited Mallorca on a pre-season tour playing in a four-team tournament. Which was fun and also a good workout for the coming season.
We extend a very warm welcome to all visitors to Westfield Lane,
